David has 15 years of school experience before joining Wiltshire Local Authority as Adviser for Mathematics. He successfully led developments in learning mathematics across Wiltshire for many years and helped to transform how mathematics is perceived by teachers and children.

This successful experience led to promotion to Senior Adviser responsible for many teams and services in primary education and then to Head of School Support in Wiltshire. He was responsible for all aspects of school improvement in Wiltshire’s primary schools.  In his time in this role there were a number of notable successes including;

• KS2  Standards moving from 2% below national average to 2% above national average
• Schools in an Ofsted category reducing from 3% to 1.5%
• Good and Outstanding schools increasing from 39% to 63%
• Successful implementation of the School Improvement Partner programme
• Building highly effective partnership and trust between the LA and schools, judged as a real strength by external evaluations

David has also been a SIP in Wiltshire and led the SIP team for many years. He has supported schools and clusters in all aspects of school improvement including preparing for and achieving a good Ofsted inspection, helping struggling schools to succeed as well as working with schools going from good to great.
